Our MissionWe have a current need to assist US Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale with Auxiliarists fully qualified to voluntarily perform selected duties aboard Coast Guard vessels, and in the Communications Center. Auxiliary members work alongside Active and Reserve Coast Guard members as boat crew, engineers, and communication Watchstanders. We are looking for additional dedicated people to join us and help in these efforts.
Our History The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was created in 1939 by Congress as the Coast Guard Reserve. It helped the Coast Guard perform many small craft rescues, as well as provide boating safety knowledge to a growing number of recreational boaters. In February1941, it became the Coast Guard Auxiliary with many members becoming part of the Temporary Reserve during World War II. Over 50,000 Auxiliarist served during the war. The Auxiliary has continued to assist the Coast Guard, and serve the public with its efforts to improve boating safety for over 60 years.
